Mesa Verde Hiking Trip, Cortez, Colorado – June 26th – 29th

30 Jun

This trip has become very memorable trip for us in many ways. It was Amelie’s first “real” hiking experience. We hiked almost 9 miles (round trip) with steep up/down hills to the Spring House ruins. It took us almost all day. Amelie had learned to communicate with us when she has a soar spot inside her shoes by saying  “I have a hot spot!” so we can treat it before it gets worse. I don’t even remember how many times we had to remove her 2 layers of socks and hiking boots to take a look at her feet. LOL. We are so very proud of her to follow through without becoming a big pain for everyone. It was just so special for us, as parents, to witness her physical ability and mental strength in this hike. And of coursr the view was just stunning. We cannot thank enough to Opa (Ralph) to accommodate this entire trip and made everything very special for us. Also, it was very nice to get to know “Aunt Ellen”, especially for Amelie.

Amelie’s Student of the Month – April 14th, 2010

08 Jun

This was the second time she received “Student of the Month”.  Amelie also did the narrator for this “green” play performed by Ms. Tran’s class. It was just cute! Congrats, Ame and good job!

Woodcrest Spring Fling – May 27th, 2010

07 Jun

Children’s singing and dancing performance at Woodcrest. Amelie had performed on the several songs since she has been participating Chorus classes. The weather wasn’t really ideal for this but children’s spirit blew yucky weather away and made it really enjoyable.

Simon and Miles, new family member!

23 May

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010, we added two adorable members to our family. Both are male kitties. Orange Tabby is “Simon” and he is 5 weeks old.  Gray/Black/Silver Tabby is “Miles” and he is 8 weeks old.  Miles is completely comfortable with his new home and he has been already getting in trouble few times here and there. Miles is a handsome little guy and very affectionate but at the same time really playful and gets really hyper when he wants to play. Miles loves to be held and often climbs on a lap on his own… otherwise, he usually is willing to let you hold him for a while. Simon is still a little scared about his new environment since he is much younger than Miles, we are just going to take it slow with him. Simon is much calmer than Miles as well (so far) and when he wants to sleep, he sometimes finds a place that no one can bother him until he is ready to come out. Simon loves peace and quiet it seems and he is also very loving. At his previous home, he was the one who is really taking a good care of  baby kittens. Simon also makes a nice loud purring sound when we pet him. More pictures and videos to come.

Amelie, the first night, we found at 1:30 in the morning in the bathroom with kittens. She spent the entire night there! That is a reason that she fell a sleep on the couch now, at 11am in the morning. :-) I understand that beacuse that is what I would do when I get my very first pet although it was only okay because it wasn’t school night for her.

Arrowhead, Family Camping at Dogwood Camping Ground – May 14th~16th, 2010

17 May

This camping site was much (10 times) nicer one than the other one we went last year. Our camping spot was surrounded by beautiful trees plus flushing toilet! We purchased the heater so that inside of the tent was nice and cozy at night although the outside was 40 degrees. Oma cooked dinners for both nights and one of the night, Stephanie made an apple pie and a cherry pie from scratch. It was impressive for her to go through all that trouble making them for us! Amelie and her cousin Reagan brought more joy to this camping. They had so much fun playing together. Both nights, they slept in Oma/Opa’s tent! Anyway, all good memories.

Amelie@Deluxe – had a fun day at mama’s work.

22 Apr

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010 – Amelie’s visited mama’s work and spent a time with all the other kids all day long. The highlight of the day was the kids to record the Chipmunks’ voice for Alvin 2 movie. They also took a tour around the building, had a pizza for lunch, and watched Princess and Frog movie on a big screen at the end.

Visiting David and Steph at Malibu Camping Ground

22 Apr

Even if we’ve started our day kind of late, we still had lots of fun with the family. We took a very long hike and didn’t even realized how hard we walked until the next day. My body was aching all over the place. Amelie ended up staying with uncle Dave and Stephanie at the camping ground over night. Thanks, uncle Dave and Stephanie.
