Amelie and her friend Maya were chosen to compete in this year’s Spelling Bee at Woodcrest School. This is in of itself a great achievement, so great job girls! Unfortunately they were so nervous they both misspelled words early on that they knew plenty well. In fact, they both knew all of the words though the winning word, so stood a real chance of winning. It would have been great if they were the last two standing! The eventual winner was the very cute Joshua, who was the lad on the right end of the row, with a white shirt. Congratulations Joshua!

I wanted Amelie to learn the words to our national anthem, so I googled “Star Spangled Banner lyrics”.  What I got was the following.  Seems we only sing 1/4 of what was written!  It is really cool though, so I wanted to post it for anyone to see.

It was such a beautiful and perfect day for Sato-Veillon “love” celebration. We enjoyed the day with no plan and we’ve played by ear as we pleased, oh, except for the dinner plan. We went back to the restaurant Piatti where we held our wedding reception. We also spent hours at the Alice Keck Park where we held our wedding and enjoyed the beautiful day. Poor Shawn and Amelie, they had to listen to a crazy mama singing the Japanese pop songs all the way home…

On our birthday, we went to “Hachi” on Wilshire with Yumi.
Shawn tried this Uni (Sea Urchin). He thought it wasn’t that bad like the ones he tried in the past. It was very good Uni!!!

Thanks, Oma for babysitting Amelie.

Even though I felt pretty crappy that day, I’m glad that I went because Chris’ homemade Dutch soup made me warm and feel nice inside. I’m sure it had that effect on everyone. We had a great time.
