Back to Ryokan and Dinner
Enjoying local food is normally one of the highlights of trips. Naturally we were looking forward to a dinner at our ryokan. The quantity was plenty for Amelie and Rika. But Rika thinks some of the dishes were “too authentic” for Shawn, so we ordered an extra Hida beef plate. We BBQ-ed those on a individual clay stove. Aperitif was a plum wine and it was a new discovery for Shawn (Rika has always liked it) :-). Our table was like a diner booth but private which was really nice and cozy. Food was, we would rate, 7 out of 10.

For most meals at the ryokan (hot springs resort hotel) I was fine with nearly everything they served. As you can see from the photos it was a LOT – a very wide variety of traditional Japanese food. Probably each meal had maybe one or two things I could not eat – and that was never one of the main dishes. Nice to have extra beef when this place is famous for it anyway. 😉
