Exploring Historic District
We walked through several of these Sanno-machi-suji streets in Sanno-machi historic district, typically called “Furui Machinami (the old streets)“. If you have a good imagination, you can time travel to ancient Takayama. As well as all the ancient cities in the world, they preserve the appearance of the buildings in tact but inside of those are all nice and updated to restaurants, folk craft shops and souvenir shops.
