Exploring Shirakawago
The rain was on and off (mostly off) while we are in Shirakawago village. Gasshozukuri houses are well maintained and almost felt like we are in some kind of nature amusement park. The village was really organized nicely with many restaurants and shops much more than we thought yet, very clean, as usual. We loved walking through the path surrounded by rice fields, going over a little bridge over a stream that collects snowmelt water in spring, with hazy mountains in background. The view was so soothing and therapeutic to our souls. Please look at the video below, and maybe you can feel it like we did as if you were there. It is strange but visiting there made Rika so proud to be Japanese.
