Shirakawago Ogimachi Castle Ruins Observatory
Unfortunately, the rain has started coming down pretty hard right before we arrived at Shirakawago, and when we got off the bus, it was a downfall. But, while we were on the bus for the Ogimachi Castle Ruins Observatory, it started calming down and by the time we got off the bus, it stopped. How lucky was that? The area was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. I think the rainy weather made the scenery extra radiant. Oh, the view from the observatory spot, was truly breathtaking. There are so many photos of this view on sunny days but not in the weather like that day. So, that was an extra bonus! One item of Rika’s bucket list was checked off after this. A pretty pretty place…

I loved this place, both the spectacular view from the viewpoint and the village below. It’s cool that people are actually living here in these old traditional homes and such. This style house was designed for lots of snow – and I know it’s even more gorgeous in the winter – if you can deal with the cold. It IS one of my favorite styles of architecture though.
